The same motorcycle policy add-ons from the explorer above, listed out. Form names and availability vary by carrier.
Endorsement
Raises limits for bags, pipes, electronics, and paint.
Motorcycle physical damage often sublimits aftermarket parts. Bags, infotainment, and custom paint can exceed that quickly. An accessories endorsement schedules or raises the cap. Photos and receipts from the builder help at claim time.
Endorsement
Suspends road coverage while the bike is stored for winter.
Illinois winters park a lot of bikes. A lay-up endorsement can pause liability and physical damage for road use while keeping comprehensive-style protection in the garage, depending on the form. Tell us the dates — an undeclared winter ride can become a coverage fight.
Optional coverage
Helps with rider medical bills regardless of fault.
Illinois is a tort state. Medical payments on a motorcycle policy can help with ER bills for you or a passenger while liability and health insurance sort out. Limits are optional and usually modest compared with a serious motorcycle injury.
Endorsement
Physical damage and liability for a trailer you tow.
A motorcycle trailer is not automatically a listed auto. Physical damage and liability for the trailer are often added by endorsement or a scheduled item. Useful for riders who trailer the bike to Wisconsin or the Michigan dunes.
Endorsement
Confirms coverage for a passenger you carry.
Some motorcycle forms restrict guest-passenger liability unless it is added or the passenger is described. If you ride two-up, we confirm the liability section actually responds for that person. Medical payments for a passenger is a separate optional limit.
Optional coverage
Helmet, jacket, and gear damaged in a covered loss.
A crash can destroy a helmet and armored jacket even when the bike is repairable. Apparel coverage is usually a small optional limit, not automatic. It is not life insurance and it does not pay medical bills — that is medical payments or health insurance.
Optional coverage
Tow limits sized for a motorcycle, not a car.
A motorcycle tow is a different bill than a sedan. Optional towing coverage on the motorcycle form is written with that in mind. Trip interruption is a related but separate add-on if you tour out of state.
Endorsement
Locks a value for a custom or collector motorcycle.
Actual cash value on a built bike can disappoint after a total loss. Stated or agreed value, where the carrier will write it, documents what the machine is worth up front. Appraisals matter. This is a different conversation from a stock commuter bike.
Optional coverage
Hotel and travel expense if a covered breakdown strands you.
Touring riders use trip interruption when a covered disablement leaves them overnight away from home. Limits are modest. It is not travel insurance for a cancelled vacation — it is tied to a covered motorcycle loss.
Optional coverage
Protects you when the other driver has no insurance, or too little.
Motorcycle injuries are expensive, and not every Illinois driver carries meaningful liability. UM/UIM on the motorcycle policy is often optional in the same way it is discussed on auto — and easy to skip until a left-turn crash. We treat it as one of the first add-ons to review, not an afterthought.
